Not only is it quicker to get to the frequency you want, but the manufacturer can group together sets of frequencies that work well together, or sets of frequencies that fall under different licensing regimes for example. For example, you might have eight banks of eight frequencies each, which, organisationally, is a bit easier to work with than a big block of 64 frequencies.
